
Mat Hall
Mat Hall is a nationally ranked action shooting competitor and has achieved Distinguished Master in IDPA, Grand Master in USPSA, and Master in Steel Challenge and Multi-Gun. In 2025 Mat competed in the IDPA Nationals and finished 1st overall in the nation.
Mat is dedicated to the disciplines in which he competes, which are but not limited to IDPA (internTional defensive pistol association), USPSA (united states practical shooting associaton), Steel Challenge, Multi-Gun, and PPC (police pistol combat). Known for clean fundamentals, fast stage execution, and meticulous equipment preparation, Mat combines disciplined training with a strategic approach to match planning.
He rose through the classifications to earn Distinguished Master class after claiming the National title and being ranked 1st overall in the nation, a milestone that reflects years of focused practice, smart competition, and consistent performance under pressure.
Training philosophy:
Mat’s training emphasizes repeatable fundamentals, realistic scenario practice, and measurable progress. He balances dry-fire work, timed live-fire drills, and full-stage rehearsals to build speed without sacrificing accuracy. Equipment care and stage visualization are treated as integral parts of preparation, when gear behaves, Mat can focus on execution.
What drives him:
For Mat, competition is about continual improvement and helping others succeed. He enjoys coaching new shooters, sharing stage knowledge, and promoting safe, sportsmanlike growth of action shooting in local clubs and national communities.
Mat is grateful to his family for their sacrifices during travel and long practice days, the clubs and ranges that provide training space, and the coaches and teammates who challenge him to get better each season.
